61 Gas Cylinders Seized in Pune, Accused Arrested for Black Marketing

Pune, 13th January 2025: The Sinhagad Road Police have uncovered a case involving the illegal storage and sale of domestic gas cylinders. One person has been arrested in connection with the case, and 61 gas cylinders, along with a tempo used for transportation, have been seized.

The arrested individual has been identified as Vikas Dhondappa Akale (31), a resident of Charwad Vasti, Vadgaon Budruk, originally from Solapur. Notably, Akale had been subjected to police action for a similar offence two months ago.

The police team, while patrolling the Vadgaon Budruk area, received a tip-off about the illegal storage of gas cylinders. Acting on the information, the team laid a trap and intercepted a tempo in which the cylinders were being stored. Akale was detained at the spot, and preliminary investigations revealed his involvement in the illegal storage and sale of domestic gas cylinders.

The police are now investigating the source of the gas cylinders and the network through which they were being sold.

This operation was conducted under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Dilip Daingde of the Sinhagad Road Police Station and Inspector Uttam Bhajanawale of the Crime Branch. The team included Assistant Inspector Sachin Nikam, Sub-Inspector Santosh Bhadwalkar, and other officials from the Sinhagad Road Police Station.
