64 new Coronavirus positive patients in Pune today, tally reaches 772

Pune, April 22, 2020: A total of 64 new Coronavirus positive patients have been found today in Pune, taking the total tally to 772. Three patients died today while 35 were discharged from hospitals after getting cured, till 8.30 pm today.

According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials, till now 122 patients have been cured and discharged from hospitals. There are 594 patients still admitted and their condition is stable. However, the condition of 26 patients are critical.

Three patients died today during treatment. They include a 53-year-old man from Hadapsar, 65-year-old man from Parvati Darshan and a 56-year-old woman from Bhavani Peth. Till now 55 people have died in Pune City.

In neighbouring Pimpri-Chinchwad, the number of Coronavirus positive patients has increased to 67 and 20 of them have been cured and discharged from hospitals. Two patients have died. A woman from Marketyard area of Pune, had died in YCM hospital in Pimpri on April 20. Now her report has come which states that she was COVID19 patient.

Across Maharashtra, 431 new Covid-19 cases were reported today taking the state tally to 5649. There were 18 COVID-related deaths in the state today. Out of these, 10 deaths were recorded  in Mumbai, 2 in Pune, 2 in Aurangabad. 1 death was recorded in Kalyan-Dombivali, 1 in Solapur  Municipal Corporation, 1 in Jalagaon and 1 was recorded in Malegaon.

 

Maharashtra Minister Rajesh Tope said, “We’re doing increased surveillance,screening,testing&treatment. We’ve improved our doubling rate of positive patients to 7.1 days.

Our aim is to protect everyone&bring mortality rate to zero. We’ve started Plasma therapy in the State.”

Out of the 18 deaths today, 14 were men and 4 women. 5 of them aged over 60 years, 12 were from the age group 40 to 59 years and 1 was under 40 years of age. 12 out of these 18 patients (61%) had high-risk co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma and heart disease. Death toll in Covid-19 patients has now gone up to 269 in the state.

 

Out of 90,223 laboratory samples, 83,979 were negative and 5649 have been tested positive for
coronavirus until today.

 

As per the guidance from Government of India, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in places where clusters of patients have been found in the state. There are 465 active containment zones in the state currently. Total 6798 surveillance squads worked today across the state and surveillance of 25.61 lakh population was done.

 

789 patients have been discharged till date after full recovery. Currently, 1,09,072 people are in home quarantine and 8,051 people are in institutional quarantine.

 

According to Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India’s total number of Coronavirus positive cases have increased 20471. Till now 3959 patients have been cured and discharged while 652 people have died. The are 15859 active cases now.
