64th Rail Week National Award function of Indian Railways

31 July 2019: The 64th Rail Week National Award function was held at the Jamshedji Bhabha Theatre (NCPA), Mumbai on the 30th of July 2019.

Shri V.K. Yadav, Chairman, Railway Board was the Chief Guest. Shri S N Agarwal, Member Staff, Shri Rajesh Agarwal, Member Rolling Stock, Shri Vishwesh Chaube, Member Engineering, Shri N. Kashinath, Member Signal & Telecom, Shri V P Pathak, Member Materials Management, Shri Rajesh Tiwari, Member Traction, Shri P S Mishra, Member Traffic, Shri Vijay Kumar, Finance Commissioner, Shri S K Mishra, Secretary Railway Board, General Managers of all Zones and Production Units, Other officials and employees of Indian Railways along with awardees and their families were also present at the event.

Shri V.K. Yadav, Chairman, Railway Board gave away Medals, Cheques and Certificates to 133 individual awardees and winners of four Zonal competitions. Among the 133 awardees 8 were from Central Railway. They were- Shri Mikhil Karekar, Sr. Efficiency Officer, Dr. Swapnil Nila, Sr. Divisional Operations Manager, Dr. Deepak Dalmia, Sr. Divisional Medical Officer, Shri Arun Kumar, Divisional Electrical Engineer, Shri Mohit Sorari, Divisional Signal & Telecom Engineer (Construction), Shri Rajendra Deshpande, Sr. Section Engineer/Works, Shri Ajit Mhasalkar, Protocol Inspector and Shri Rakesh Pagi, Office Superintendent.

Chairman, Railway Board also presented 20 Shields to employees/officers representing their Zones and Production Units of Indian Railways for their outstanding performance. South Eastern Railway won the prestigious Govind Vallabh Pant Shield for overall efficiency.

Shri Piyush Goyal Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Commerce and Industry, Government of India alongwith Shri Suresh Angadi, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways addressed the gathering through video link from Delhi. Shri Piyush Goyal congratulated the awardees and said success is not a chance but success is a choice. Mumbai shows the grit of the nation in general and railways in particular in times of challenge. He appreciated the railwaymen and the various agencies in restoring railways in times of adverse conditions.

Speaking on the occasion Shri V.K. Yadav, Chairman, Railway Board said that the work done by railways during last year was appreciated by Hon’ble members of parliament during the budget discussion. He also said that due to the increased record output of coaches, the expectations of people have risen manifold and we have to face the challenge of meeting that. He also said Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of seeing the Indian Railways as the no.1 railways in the world in next 10 years. Chairman also congratulated Central Railway for the excellent arrangements and conducting the function.

Earlier, Shri AK Gupta, General Manager, Central Railway gave welcome address. The programme started with Saraswati Vandana and lighting the lamp followed by cultural event by Central Railway Cultural Academy.

This year Central Railway had been entrusted with the responsibility of organizing and hosting this prestigious event.

Earlier during the day Chairman, Railway Board visited the exhibition organized at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Heritage Hall about new initiatives and cutting edge technology / achievements. Central Railway, Western Railway, South Central Railway, Southern Railway, South Western Railway, Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation India Ltd (DFCCIL), Indian Railway Station Development Corporation, Integral Coach Factory, Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation, Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd, Railway Protection Force and Railfans, Central Organisation for Railway Electrification & National Academy of Indian Railways are participating in this exhibition.

The exhibition will be open on 30th & 31st July 2019 from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm and entry will be free.
