65 new COVID patients in PMC area total tally reaches 2201 in Pune district

Pune, May 5, 2020: A total of 65 new COVID19 patients reported today in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) area, the total tally of Coronavirus positive patients in Pune city has reached 1943. Also, 4 patients died while 52 patients got discharged from hospitals today after being cured.

According to PMC officials, until now 111 patients have died while 535 have been cured and discharged. There are still 1297 active patients in the city including 76 critical ones. 20 patients have ventilator support. In Khadki, out of 21 patients 11 have been cured while 2 have died and there are still 8 active patients.

As per the District Health Officer, the total number of COVID19 patients in Pune district till 9 pm had reached 2201 out of which 608 have been cured while 120 patients have died. In PCMC area till 8.30 pm, the tally had reached 135 patients out of which 5 have died while 59 have been discharged. 11 new cases were reported in PCMC in the last 24 hours.

841 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Maharashtra today. The state tally of COVID-19 positive patients is now 15,525. There were 34 COVID-related deaths in the state today. Out of these, 26 deaths were recorded in Mumbai, 6 in Pune, 1 in Aurangabad city and 1 in Kolhapur. Out of the 34 deaths today, 24 were men and 10 women. 14 of them aged over 60 years, 16 were from the age group 40 to 59 years and 4 were aged less than 40 years. Information regarding comorbidities in 2 patients who died is not available yet. 28 out of 34 patients (82%) had highrisk co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, etc. Death toll in Covid-19 patients has now gone up to 617 in the state.

Out of 1,82,884 laboratory samples, 1,67,205 were negative and 15,525 have been tested positive for coronavirus until today. As per the guidance from the Government of India, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in places where clusters of patients have been found in the state. There are 943 active containment zones in the state currently. Total 11,629 surveillance squads worked today across the state and surveillance of 50.81 lakh population was done. 2819 patients have been discharged till date after full recovery. Currently, 1,99,182 people are in-home quarantine and 12,456 people are in institutional quarantine.
