700 Missing Roads, 12 Priority Projects: PMC Begins Major Connectivity Drive Across Pune
Pune, 25th July 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has set a target of completing 12 key missing road links across the city within the next year to improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion, Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram said.
The initiative is part of the civic body’s broader plan to bridge gaps in Pune’s road network identified under the Development Plan (DP) and the Regional Plan (RP) for newly merged villages.
PMC conducted a comprehensive survey of the city’s road network in August 2022, which found that several roads remained incomplete due to pending land acquisition and other issues. Based on the findings, the civic body appointed a consultant to prepare a roadmap for completing these missing links.
According to the survey, Pune has nearly 700 missing road links covering a total length of about 520 km. PMC subsequently identified 33 high-priority missing links that are expected to significantly improve traffic movement across the city. Although these links have a combined length of only 12 km, their completion is expected to make nearly 60 km of the road network fully operational by connecting existing stretches.
As part of the first phase, PMC plans to complete the following 12 missing road links within the next year:
Rajaram Bridge to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Chowk (via Jawalkar Garden)
Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Chowk to Rosary School Underpass
Baner–Pashan Link Road
Ganaraj Chowk to Kaspate Vasti
Nagaras Road, Aundh, to Balewadi Stadium (via Jupiter Hospital)
Gunjan Chowk to Kalyaninagar
Kalyaninagar to Kharadi
ABC Chowk to Gadigutta Chowk (N.M. Road Hair Studio Triangle Link)
Mundhwa ROB to Keshavnagar (Mantra)
Hume Pipe to Prayeja City Road to Dhayari (via Kodre Farm)
Lokmat Press to Savitri Garden
Navale Bridge to Wakad (service road)
The civic administration expects these projects to strengthen east-west and north-south connectivity, reduce travel time, and ease congestion on several busy corridors by creating seamless links between existing roads.
