70th Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav Begins In Pune; Metro Extends Services For Music Lovers

Pune, 19th December 2024: The 70th edition of the prestigious Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav commenced on Wednesday, bringing together an illustrious lineup of legendary and contemporary artists. The festival, held at the Maharashtra Mandal Krida Sankul in Mukund Nagar, Pune, will continue till Sunday, 22nd December 2024.

This year’s Mahotsav celebrates Indian classical music with performances by iconic artists such as Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pandit Ramnarayan, Ustad Rashid Khan, and Swarayogini Padma Vibhushan Dr. Prabha Atre, among many others. Known for its tradition of honoring musical excellence, the festival continues to be a cornerstone for classical music enthusiasts.

To accommodate the large number of attendees, MahaMetro has introduced special services for the festival. The metro service will run until 11.00 pm throughout the event, with extended operations until 12.00 am on Saturday.

Additionally, a dedicated shuttle bus service has been launched to connect Swargate Metro Station to the festival venue at the Maharashtra Mandal Sports Complex.

Metro will operate at 20-minute intervals, and tickets for the service have been priced at an affordable ₹10, ensuring convenient and economical travel for fans.
