7500 kg ‘Diwali Faral’ Sent Abroad By Puneites Through Post Offices In Pune

Pune, 1st December 2023: In a festive initiative, the Pune Postal Department launched “Diwali Faral Abroad” from October 20th to November 20th, allowing citizens to send traditional Diwali treats (Faral) to their loved ones overseas. The response from Pune’s residents was overwhelming.

Within the month-long campaign, approximately 7500 kg of Faral parcels were dispatched from Pune city post offices to various countries, including USA, England, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Australia, and Canada. To acknowledge the commendable efforts of the Post Office employees, a ceremony was organized at the Parvati Post Office in Pune on Wednesday.

Pune Rural Division Superintendent Balkrishna Erande informed the attendees about the successful execution of the initiative. Postmaster General Ramchandra Jaybhaye of the Pune region expressed his appreciation for the meritorious employees and encouraged them to continue serving the public with dedication. He emphasized the need to promote the Post’s International Parcel Service, highlighting its affordability compared to other courier services.

While acknowledging the pivotal role of postmen as the backbone of the postal department, Jaybhaye urged them to play a significant role in spreading awareness about the international parcel service. Simran Kaur, the postmaster of the Pune region, emphasized the expanding domestic and international parcel services, especially in the flourishing e-commerce sector. She highlighted the extensive network of post offices across the country, positioning them to play a crucial role in parcel booking and delivery.

The event was attended by key figures including Postmaster General Ramchandra Jaybhaye, Postmaster General Simran Kaur, RP Gupta, Pune City East Division Senior Superintendent Dr Abhijit Ichke, Pune City West Division Superintendent Ripan Dullet, Pune Rural Division Superintendent Balkrishna Erande, along with other officials and employees.
