79th Independence Day Celebrations in Pune: Governor to Hoist Flag at Vidhan Bhavan
Pune, 12th August 2025: The 79th Independence Day of India will be celebrated with patriotic fervour on Friday, August 15. The main government flag-hoisting ceremony in Pune will be held at Vidhan Bhavan (Council Hall), where Maharashtra Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan will unfurl the national flag at 9.05 am.
The day’s events will begin with a flag hoisting at the Collectorate Office at 7.30 am, followed by the ceremony at Shaniwar Wada at 8 am. The national flag will also be displayed prominently on all public and government buildings, as well as forts of historical importance across the district.
Flag-hoisting programs will be organised at several heritage sites, including the forts of Torna, Sinhagad, Shivneri, Purandar, Tikona, and Lohagad, along with Shaniwar Wada. These events will be conducted under the supervision of the respective Tehsildar offices of Haveli, Junnar, Purandar, Rajgad (Velhe), Bhor, and Maval.
The celebrations will mark not only the country’s independence but also the enduring spirit of unity, honouring the sacrifices of countless freedom fighters who fought for India’s freedom.
