859 cases of Aadhaar card misuse in Public Distribution System
New Delhi, July 16, 2019 : Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) is operated under the joint responsibility of the Central and State/UT Governments. Central Govt. is responsible for procurement, allocation and transportation of foodgrains upto the designated depots of the FCI. The operational responsibilities for allocation and distribution of foodgrains within the States/UTs, identification of eligible beneficiaries/families, issuance of ration cards to them and supervision and monitoring of functioning of Fair Price Shops (FPSs) rest with the concerned State/UT Government.
Some complaints/reports of malpractices involving use of Aadhaar during the distribution of subsidised foodgrains in States/UTs have been reported to this Department. The details of actions taken by States/UTs, as per reports available in this Department, are as follows:-
