99 New COVID Patients in Pune city total tally reaches 2245, PCMC got 4 new cases

Pune, May 8, 2020: With 99 new Coronavirus patients in Pune city, the total number of COVID19 cases has reached 2245 under Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) areas. According to PMC, today 12 patients (including one from Pune rural area) died while 61 got discharged from hospitals. Out of total 2245 COVID19 patients, 732 have been cured and discharged while 137 have died till now. There are still 1377 active patients including 76 critical patients.

In Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) areas, four new patients have been reported taking the total tally to 155. Also, 16 more from Pune are being treated in PCMC hospitals. Till now seven patients have died – 3 from PCMC and 4 from outside. Also, 79 patients including three from outside have been cured and discharged from hospitals. The patients whose reports came positive today are from Old Sangvi, Tamhane Vasti, Chikhli and Moshi. A fifth positive case is from Tadiwala Road in Pune. Tamhane Vasti has been sealed now.

1089 new Covid-19 cases were reported today in Maharashtra. The state tally of COVID-19 positive patients is now 19,063. There were 37 COVID-related deaths in the state today. Out of these, 25 deaths were recorded in Mumbai, 10 in Pune, 1 in Jalgaon district and 1 in Amaravati city.

Out of the 37 deaths today, 19 were men and 18 women. 17 of them aged over 60 years, 16 were from the age group 40 to 59 years and 4 were aged less than 40 years. 27 out of 37 patients (73%) had high-risk co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, etc. Death toll in Covid-19 patients has now gone up to 731 in the state. 3470 patients have been discharged till date after full recovery.

Out of 2,12,350 laboratory samples, 1,92,197 were negative and 19,063 have been tested positive for coronavirus until today. As per the guidance from the Government of India, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in places where clusters of patients have been found in the state. There are 1139 active containment zones in the state currently. Total 13,552 surveillance squads worked today across the state and surveillance of 52.64 lakh population was done. Currently, 2,39,531 people are in-home quarantine and 13,494 people are in institutional quarantine.
