Take Necessary Action To Prevent Water Accumulation In Pune: Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil
Pune, 22nd October 2022: Chandrakant Patil, Minister of Higher and Technical Education of the State and Guardian Minister of Pune District, has instructed the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) administration that in case of more rains in the upcoming days, necessary action should be started immediately to prevent waterlogging in the city and all related works should be completed by next June.
Guardian Minister Patil informed that if there is more rain in a short time, the causes of water accumulation on the road should be studied through a separate system and measures should be taken. Options such as widening, deepening the drain, and retaining the wall along with the protective wall should be considered.
A proposal should be submitted to the government for half of the expenses required for this. All measures should be completed before next June.
“The tender process for repairing 400 km of roads in the city should be done immediately as soon as the rain stops. Care should be taken to ensure that the quality of road works remains good,” Guardian Minister added further.

Pune received the C40 Cities Bloomberg Philanthropies Award 2022 for its initiative in the use of electric buses and use of pollution-free systems in public transport at the C40 World Mayors Conference in Argentina.
Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar gave information about the projects of the Municipal Corporation through a presentation.
A total of 98,000 meters have been installed and the works of 42 tanks have also been completed. The target is to have 60 divisions operational by March 2023 along with this seven roads and two bridges are under construction.
The work of Yerwada Golf Club flyover will be completed by December 2022. Construction of 2,918 flats under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana will be completed soon.
In the meeting, Guardian Minister Patil discussed equal water supply, pollution control of the Mula-Mutha river under the National River Conservation Scheme, road development, flyover project, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, solid waste management, use of electric vehicles, Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College, Urban Planning, Planning of the 23 included villages in Pune Municipal Corporation, taxation and tax collection, prevention of unauthorised constructions, proposed projects of the Municipal Corporation were taken into consideration.
The meeting was attended by MLA Madhuri Misal, Commissioner and Administrator Vikram Kumar, Additional Commissioner Kumar Khemnar, Chief Executive Officer of Pune Smart City Sanjay Kolte, former mayor Muralidhar Mohol, Hemant Rasane, senior officials of the Municipal Corporation and public representatives.
