Pune: Child Kidnapped From Pimpri Chowk, Found Abandoned At Shirgaon
Pimpri, 29th December 2022: A woman kidnapped the child of a couple selling goods at a traffic signal. The Pimpri Police found the child within 23 hours and handed it over to his parents.
Ravi Sunil Pawar and his wife Radha came to Pune three years ago to earn from Barshi in the Solapur district. The Pawar couple sells various items at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Chowk. On Tuesday (December 27) as usual Pawar couple was selling goods with their three children.
Around 1.45 pm, Pawar went to get the vada-pav after sitting the children near the tree trunks at the chowk. At that time his wife was selling goods at the traffic signal. When Pawar returned within ten minutes, he realized that his son Rahul was not there. When the Pawar couple searched the area, the boy was not found. Hence, they rushed to the Pimpri police station. Senior Police Inspector Awatade understood the seriousness of the incident and registered a case.
Separate teams of Pimpri Police, Anti-Human Trafficking Cell, and Crime Branch Unit-2 started an investigation in this regard.
CCTV footage showed a woman with a scarf tied around her face carrying the child. The police examined the footage of more than a hundred CCTV cameras to trace the accused woman.
It was learned on Wednesday (December 28) night that the accused woman abandoned the child in the Prati Shirdi Saibaba temple in Shirgaon near Gahunje. A team of Pimpri police went to Shirgaon. The child was taken into custody and handed over to the complainant. The search is on for the accused woman.
The action was taken under the guidance of DCP (Zone 1) Vivek Patil, DCP (Crime) Swapna Gore, ACP (Pimpri Division) Prerna Katte and ACP (Crime) Dr Prashant Amritkar. The team included Senior Inspector Shankar Awatade of Pimpri Police Station, Police Inspector Devendra Chavan of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, Sub-Inspector Pradeep Singh Sisode, Crime Branch Unit Two and the officers of Shirgaon Police Station carried out the said operation.
