Pune: Preventive Order Of District Collector In Wake Of Jayastambh Salutation Ceremony

Pune, 30th December 2022: To maintain law and order and the safety of the citizens in the background of the Jayastambh Salutation ceremony to be held at Perne Phata, District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh issued a preventive order as per section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 from midnight on December 30 to 6 am on January 2, 2023, within the limits of rural areas of Pune district.

Accordingly, “It is the responsibility of the person and the group admin that no one will post or forward any rumors, false messages spreading communal hatred, false information through social media such as Instagram, WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, etc. Placing banners, flexes, and hoardings in public places without the written permission of the local administration and police in villages within Pune rural limits will remain prohibited. Government departments and systems will be exempted,” states the said order.

The order states that a person who violates this order will be liable to punishment under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
