Pune: Hurda Packets Available In Market Now At Economical Rates
Market Yard, 5th January 2023: After the onset of cold weather, the arrival of hurda (jowar grains) has begun. There is a good demand for hurda, and the price of one kg of hurda in the retail market is between Rs 250 and 350.
200 to 300 kg of hurda is being received daily from Aurangabad and Ahmednagar in the wholesale market in the Market Yard, Pune.
There was no increase in the price of hurda this year. The arrival of hurda will increase further in the next 15 days, informed the traders of Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard.
Hurda has good demand from hoteliers along with domestic customers. There is a demand for hurda from Lonavala and Konkan regions. The hurda season starts in December and persists till February. For the past few years, hoteliers have been organizing hurda parties. Therefore, there is a good demand for hurda, and the farmers are satisfied with getting good prices.
Hurda packets have been made available for sale in the market for the last three years. Hence, many people are inclined to celebrate hurda parties at home.
Market yard traders Mauli Ambekar and Pandurang Supekar said there is a good demand for hurda in packets from domestic consumers.
