Pune, 24th April 2023: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest during the management council meeting of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), alleging that an obscene rap song was shot on the university campus and no action was taken by the Vice-Chancellor.

The protesters also demanded that the pending examinations of the students be completed on time, and the convocation ceremony be conducted without any further delay.

Anil Thombare, a representative of ABVP explained the reason behind their agitation, saying, “We are ashamed that the Vice-Chancellor is sitting on the same chair today after allowing an obscene rap song to be shot on the university campus. The Vice-Chancellor did not take any action when he should have. It has been 70 days, and the examinations of the students have not been completed on time.”

While ABVP denied vandalizing the university, broken glass was seen on the floor of the hall where the management council meeting was taking place. The protesters claimed that they had protested in a constitutional way.

Vice Chancellor Dr Karbhari Kale said that the university management has assured that the pending examinations of the students will be completed on time, and the convocation ceremony will be conducted at the earliest.
