Pune: HQ Maintenance Command Hosts AVISEM-23 Seminar on Smart Sustenance of Avionics and Ground Based Systems

Viman Nagar, 3rd June 2023: The HQ Maintenance Command of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in Nagpur hosted a seminar titled AVISEM-23 on 2nd June 2023 at 9BRD, Pune, focusing on the theme of “Smart Sustenance of Avionics and Ground Based Systems.”

The prestigious event was graced by Air Marshal Vibhas Pande, Air Officer Commanding in Chief of the Maintenance Command, and attended by distinguished guests including Air Marshal AK Arora, Director General (Aircraft), Air Vice Marshal SP Bhandare, Senior Maintenance Staff Officer, Western Air Command, as well as experts from leading Design Houses and the Industry.

During his keynote address, Air Marshal Vibhas Pande highlighted the significance of achieving self-sufficiency in the maintenance of the wide range of assets operated by the Indian Air Force (IAF). He also acknowledged the challenges posed by the crisis in the Balkan peninsula.

To tackle these challenges, the Air Marshal stressed the need to strategize and implement measures that align with Industry 4.0 technologies and practices. He emphasized the importance of smart sustenance of assets, which can be achieved by transitioning towards a regime of Data Centric Operations and implementing practices such as Condition Based Maintenance, Skill Agnostic Decision Making Systems, Life Cycle Management, and Extension studies.

The seminar featured immersive presentations and discussions on topics such as the Modular Open System Architecture approach to designing electronic aggregates and RF systems, the use of AR/VR technology in aircraft maintenance activities, Network Centric Maintenance of Avionics Aggregates, Digital Twin technology for Avionics Systems, and Cyber Security of Avionics Systems. The event also included an exhibition showcasing solutions provided by the industry in the field of connected technologies. Furthermore, a Memorandum of Agreement was signed between the IAF and Bharat Forge Limited, CSIR NAL to enhance joint capabilities in finding solutions for problem statements and technology infusion.

The AVISEM-23 seminar provided a valuable platform for experts and industry leaders to exchange ideas, share knowledge, and explore innovative approaches in the sustenance of avionics and ground-based systems. It reinforced the IAF’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technologies and practices to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations. The collaboration between the IAF and industry partners signifies a collective effort to address challenges and drive advancements in the field of avionics and system maintenance.
