Pune, 23rd October 2026: The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) issued registration numbers to 435 housing projects on Dussehra, covering 32,981 flats and representing an estimated investment of ₹23,719 crore.

In addition to approving new projects, MahaRERA granted deadline extensions to 210 projects and approved correction requests for 609 existing projects. The approvals came ahead of Diwali, a key period for new launches in Maharashtra’s real estate sector.

Pune recorded 140 new project registrations, the highest among the individual regions listed in the data released by MahaRERA. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) accounted for 201 projects across its constituent areas.

MahaRERA said it continued processing applications during the festive period to enable developers to launch eligible housing projects, subject to compliance with the regulator’s legal, technical and financial requirements.

Pune Records 140 New Project Registrations
Of the 140 projects registered in the Pune region, 13 were in Satara, eight in Kolhapur, and three each in Sangli and Solapur, according to the figures released by MahaRERA.

In the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, 201 projects received registration numbers. These included 63 projects in Mumbai City and its suburbs, 70 in Thane, 36 in Raigad, 25 in Palghar, five in Ratnagiri and two in Sindhudurg.

The Vidarbha region accounted for 32 projects, including 27 in Nagpur, four in Amravati and one in Akola.

Khandesh accounted for 24 projects, including 23 in Nashik and one in Ahilya Nagar. Marathwada recorded eight projects, of which seven were in Sambhaji Nagar and one in Nanded.

Additionally, two projects in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and one in Daman received registration numbers.

MahaRERA Grants Extensions to 210 Projects
Alongside new registrations, MahaRERA granted deadline extensions to 210 projects and approved correction requests for 609 projects on Dussehra.

Under the applicable regulations, developers must obtain MahaRERA’s approval before making amendments, alterations or additions to an already registered housing project.

Developers are also required to seek an extension from the regulator if they cannot complete a project by the declared deadline. Failure to secure the required extension can result in a project being classified as lapsed, potentially affecting its further development.

These procedures are intended to improve regulatory compliance, promote transparency and protect homebuyers’ interests.

According to the figures released by MahaRERA, the authority approved applications for 6,486 housing projects between April and September 2026. During this period, 2,056 projects received new registration numbers, while 2,053 projects were granted extensions and 2,377 received approval for corrections.

Including the approvals recorded in October, the total number of approved applications reached 7,740. These comprised 2,491 newly registered projects, 2,053 projects granted extensions and 2,377 projects approved for corrections.
