Pune 14th July 2023: Rohan Bhansali, a student studying in the sixth standard in Pune has been selected for the ‘Cube in Space’ program of NASA. The program that aims to make children aware of space missions has been designed by NASA for the students aged between 11 and 18 years.

Under this initiative, a small cube will be sent into space, and research will be conducted on the effects of cosmic rays on the human body in the space environment. This will help conduct research on technology to protect astronauts while in space.

After selection for this program, Rohan sent details of his project to NASA and the space agency in return sent him a cube sample measuring around 4 by 3 centimetres. He has sent the samples of resin, aluminum, and plastic in the cube which will now be sent into space by NASA in August this year.

The cube contains a microprocessor that will transmit readings every five minutes and Rohan will study these readings while sitting at his home in Pune. This cube will study the environment of the stratosphere.
