Combatting Traffic Jams: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Implements Restrictions On Heavy Vehicles And Buses

Pimpri Chinchwad, 14th July 2023: In an effort to address the growing issue of traffic congestion in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, the police have implemented a series of restrictions on heavy vehicles and private passenger buses within the city.

Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi issued an order prohibiting the entry of heavy vehicles and private buses for four hours in the morning and four hours in the evening.

With rapid industrialization and population growth, the city has witnessed an expansion that has led to increased traffic volume. Workers commuting from Katraj to Rawet bypass for employment in Talegaon MIDC, Talwade, Hinjawadi’s information technology sector have placed additional strain on the highways. Consequently, the restrictions on heavy traffic in the city have been put in place.

Various roads and intersections, such as Triveninagar to Talwadegaothan, Talwade IT Park via Triveninagar, Parandwal-Khandelwal chowk to Talwade, Chikhli Gaothan-Diamond Chowk to Ramkrishnahari Chowk, and more, will experience heavy vehicle bans during specific hours. The restrictions will be in effect on multiple routes during peak commuting times.

While the implementation of these restrictions aims to alleviate traffic congestion, commuters and civic activists have emphasized the need for better traffic management during peak hours and synchronization of traffic signals to minimize waiting time.
