Pune: ‘Relax UDCPR Act For Kasba Constituency Development And Construction In Shaniwarwada Area’
Kasba Peth, 11th August 2023: The development of numerous mansions and old societies in the Gavthan area has become imperative, yet citizens encounter numerous challenges due to the stringent regulations of the Urban Development and Controlled Planning Regulations (UDCPR).
The UDCPR mandates a one-meter side margin for constructions exceeding a height of 15 meters, thereby posing obstacles to redevelopment efforts. Addressing this issue, Hemant Rasane, Kasba Assembly Election Chief of BJP and former Standing Committee Chairman of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), has appealed to the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to consider relaxing this rule. Discussions on this matter were held in detail during a meeting with Fadnavis.
Pune boasts a plethora of historical edifices, subject to preservation regulations by the Archaeology Department, which restricts construction and repairs within 100 meters of these sites. The repercussions of these regulations are also evident in the Shaniwarwada area, impacting various livelihoods.
“A discussion with Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil was held, and continued efforts for resolution are being pursued through his involvement. In a bid to address the concerns of the many citizens residing in this region, I requested the intervention of Deputy CM Fadnavis. During our meeting, Fadnavis assured to expedite legislative processes by advocating for the passage of a pending bill to amend the law”, Rasane said.
The deliberations further encompassed a comprehensive exchange on multiple development initiatives within the Kasba Constituency. A fervent plea was made to Fadnavis to allocate funds through the state government to support these endeavors.
Assuring positive action, Fadnavis underscored his commitment to resolve these significant issues that resonate with the populace of Pune.
