Pune University Instructs Affiliated Colleges To Establish Skill Development Centers

Pune, 19th January 2024: The Director of the Skill Development Centre at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has penned a letter to the Principals of all affiliated colleges, proposing the establishment of Skill Development Centers within their institutions. The move, inspired by the vision of the Maharashtra Minister of Tourism, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Mangal Prabhat Lodha, aims to enhance the employability of college students.

The letter encourages colleges to embrace the concept of Skill Development Centers, where students can receive not only academic education but also practical business skills. The initiative is poised to make significant strides in preparing college youths for the demands of the job market.

The letter outlines the plan to establish Skill Development Centers in 100 colleges across the state, mirroring the vision of the Maharashtra State’s Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation Department. The Director emphasizes the importance of combining traditional education with practical business skills. The Skill Development Centers aim to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications, providing students with a well-rounded skill set.

Principals of all affiliated colleges are urged to apply for the establishment of Skill Development Centers. The letter provides details on the application process, underscoring the inclusive nature of the initiative. To facilitate the application process, the letter includes comprehensive information related to the Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation Department of the Maharashtra Government. It provides a Google Form link, website link, and telephone number for colleges to access detailed information and submit their applications.
