Pune: Ink Attack on PWD Engineer in Rajgad Taluka Highlights Delays in Road Repairs

Rajgad, 6th August 2024: A recent ink attack on a junior engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) in Rajgad Taluka has sparked controversy over delays in road repairs. Sangram Anantrao Thopate, during a coordination committee meeting, instructed PWD officials to address the deteriorating roads in the area. Despite these instructions, no repairs have been made, leading to significant inconvenience for residents. In response, activists from the Indian National Congress threw ink at Junior Engineer Saiprasad Mangilwar to express their frustration.
Assistant Police Inspector Nitin Khamgal, in charge of Velhe Police Station, reported that Mangilwar has filed a complaint accusing the Congress activists of obstructing his duties and threatening him. Mangilwar, 34, a resident of Ambegaon Budruk and originally from Nanded, was attacked yesterday around 1 PM at the PWD Velhe building.
The coordination committee meeting, chaired by MLA Sangram Thopate on 26th July, addressed concerns about poor road conditions in Kelad, Pasli, Varoti, and eighteen other villages in Rajgad Taluka. Thopate had instructed immediate repairs, but with no action taken by the PWD after ten days, Congress workers protested by throwing ink at Mangilwar.
Following the incident, Mangilwar reported the attack and threats to Velhe Police Station. Assistant Police Inspector Khamgal confirmed that a case has been registered against Congress Rajgad Taluka Youth President Shivraj Shendkar, Mahesh Jadhav (whose full name is unknown), and ten to twelve other individuals.
