Pune: Wagholi Police Arrest Copper Wire Theft Gang; Goods Worth Rs 13 Lakh Recovered
Wagholi, 5th November 2024: Wagholi police have arrested a gang involved in stealing copper wires from a vehicle. Four individuals have been taken into custody, and goods worth ₹13 lakh, along with the vehicle, have been recovered.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Abdul Rahman, a resident of Satav Nagar, Hadapsar, Anil Gupta, a resident of Vishrantwadi, and Shivam Kashyap and Vishal Kashyap, both residents of Vishrantwadi and natives of Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh. The theft involved copper wires valued at ₹17 lakh, which were stolen from a vehicle belonging to Agrico Energy Rental India Pvt Ltd on 24th October 2024. A case had been registered accordingly.
Police investigations led to the recovery of the vehicle used in the theft, and the driver was arrested. Upon further questioning, the driver provided information about the other three suspects, leading to their detention. He also confessed to being involved in thefts at two different locations.
The operation was led by Wagholi Senior Police Inspector Pandit Rejitwad, along with Assistant Police Inspector Shirish Bhalerao of the Investigation Team, and officers Prashant Karnawar, Deepak Kokere, Pritam Wagh, and Vishal Gaikwad.
