New Grievance System Launched for Water Supply Issues in Pune
Pune, 7th November 2024: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed with the Bombay High Court by the Wagholi Housing Societies Association (WHSA) and other concerned groups due to the insufficient water supply in areas under the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). Many residents have been forced to purchase water from external sources, highlighting the urgent need for a reliable water supply.
In response to the Bombay High Court’s order on 10th April 2023, a committee was formed under the leadership of the Pune Divisional Commissioner, with representatives from PMC and PCMC, including the Chief Engineer of PMC’s Water Supply Department and the Secretary of the Pune District Legal Services Authority.
To more effectively address water supply complaints, the committee has launched a dedicated email grievance system. PMC has set up an email ID ([email protected]) where residents can file complaints regarding water-related issues, supplementing existing complaint registration channels.
