Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Seize Rs 79.66 Lakh Cash and Liquor Worth Rs 78 Lakh Ahead of Maharashtra Polls
Pimpri Chinchwad, 8th November 2024: Following the enforcement of the code of conduct for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have confiscated Rs 79.66 lakh in cash being transported illegally. Additionally, liquor worth Rs 78 lakh, ganja valued at Rs 16 lakh, and drugs worth Rs 17 lakh have also been seized.
Preventive action has been taken against 1,438 individuals. The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police are committed to ensuring that the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections are conducted peacefully and smoothly, with police checkpoints and preventive measures in place. Senior officials are closely monitoring the situation.
The constituencies of Pimpri, Chinchwad, Bhosari, Maval, Bhor, Velha, Mulshi, Vadgaonsheri, Khed-Alandi, and others fall under the jurisdiction of the Police Commissionerate, covering both urban and rural areas over a vast geographical range. Notorious criminals in the region are being closely monitored, and 17 flying squads, composed of 36 police officers and 102 police constables, have been deployed for this purpose. Preventive action has already been taken against 1,438 individuals within the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) limits. Furthermore, action has been initiated under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act of 1999 (MCOCA) against 28 individuals linked to six criminal gangs, with six suspects apprehended.
Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey stated that the police system is fully prepared to ensure peaceful elections and that a comprehensive preventive action plan has been implemented, with the activities of known criminals under constant surveillance.
