Chandannagar, 17th November 2024: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar addressed a rally in Chandannagar to campaign for Mahayuti candidate Sunil Tingre in the Vadgaonsheri constituency, assuring voters of concrete solutions to long-standing water issues. Pawar criticized the alleged tanker mafia in the region, accusing them of depriving residents of water to profit from tanker businesses. He pledged that unless these mafia groups are eradicated, he would not return to seek votes in the area.

The rally saw the presence of former MLA Jagdish Mulik and other key office bearers of the Mahayuti alliance. Pawar lauded Tingre’s development work in the constituency, highlighting initiatives such as the creation of Oxygen Park, the establishment of Lohgaon Sub-District Hospital, the Shastrinagar Chowk project, and the Vishrantwadi flyover—all amounting to ₹1,500 crore.

Targeting Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) candidate Bapu Pathare, Pawar alleged that Pathare failed to resolve the area’s water issues during his 30-year tenure. He also questioned Pathare’s loyalty, recalling an instance from five years ago when Pathare joined him during an election campaign but later defected.

Pawar further criticized Pathare’s alleged failure to address women’s safety, saying, “Those who cannot give justice to their own family members cannot be trusted to serve the women of this constituency.” He accused Pathare of attempting to defame Tingre over an incident in which Tingre had no involvement.

Pawar emphasized the Mahayuti government’s implementation of various welfare schemes, urging voters to support Tingre for the continuation of these programs over the next five years. He dismissed opposition claims of constitutional changes as baseless propaganda and encouraged voters to make an informed decision. Pawar appealed to voters to press the button for the “clock” symbol, assuring them of justice for all groups, including minorities.
