Pune: Dattatraya Bharane Secures Third Term As Indapur MLA, Defeats Harshvardhan Patil
Indapur, 23rd November 2024: In another shocking result of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections, Dattatraya Bharane from Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) won against NCP – Sharad Pawar (NCP-SP) candidate Harshvardhan Patil by a comfortable margin of nearly 20,000 votes.
Bharane secured the win despite Harshvardhan Patil’s rebellion against Ajit Pawar’s NCP, as he joined NCP-SP before the elections. This defection was a major talking point, attracting considerable attention.
Although Sharad Pawar campaigned for Patil in Indapur, the support for Ajit Pawar’s wife in the Lok Sabha elections didn’t yield significant results, making Patil’s victory seem like a sure thing. However, Bharane managed to defy expectations and won, marking his third term as an MLA from Indapur. Despite some anti-incumbency sentiments, the people of Indapur did not favour the former MLA, Harshvardhan Patil.
With a total of 3.33 lakh voters and a high turnout of 76.10%, the election outcome was difficult to predict. In the end, Bharane emerged victorious over Patil.
