Mulshi, 4th December 2024: Renowned wrestler and Kumar Maharashtra Kesari titleholder Vikram Shivajirao Parkhi (30) tragically passed away due to a heart attack while exercising at a gym. His sudden demise has sent shockwaves through the wrestling community and the residents of Mulshi taluka, especially as he was set to marry on December 12.

A native of Mangaon in Mulshi, Parkhi earned widespread recognition after winning the prestigious Kumar Maharashtra Kesari title in 2014 at the Maharashtra State Kumar Championship Wrestling Tournament in Warje. Over the years, he garnered several accolades, including a bronze medal at the National Wrestling Tournament in Ranchi, Jharkhand, and numerous regional and national titles.

Parkhi’s wrestling career also saw him representing India at international events. Known for his exceptional talent and determination, he was an inspiration to aspiring wrestlers. His victory in the Male Kesari competition in Mulshi further solidified his place as one of the region’s most accomplished athletes.

He had a close mentor-disciple relationship with Hind Kesari wrestler Amol Buchade, who played an instrumental role in shaping his career. Parkhi also hailed from a family with a legacy of service—his father, Shivajirao Parkhi, is a retired soldier who served in the 1999 Kargil War.

Vikram is survived by his parents, a married brother, and a sister. His untimely passing has left a deep void not only in his family but also in the wrestling community and his village of Maan, which he made proud through his numerous achievements.

The wrestling world and local community are mourning the loss of a remarkable talent, remembering him as a champion who upheld Mulshi’s rich wrestling heritage and inspired countless young wrestlers.
