Pune: Lohgaon Violence – Gang Attacks Three, Vandalizes Vehicles

Lohgaon, 21st December 2024: A gang unleashed terror in the Lohegaon area late Wednesday night, attacking three people with a chopper (koyta), vandalizing vehicles, and causing widespread panic. The Airport Police have arrested one person in connection with the incident, while two others, including a minor, are still at large.

The injured victims have been identified as Sandeep Nandkumar Adhav (35), a resident of Jadhavnagar, Vishrantwadi; Salim Bagwan; and Bagwan’s son, Adiyan. According to the police, the attack stemmed from personal enmity.

Adhav, who filed a complaint at the Airport Police Station, stated that the gang targeted him while he was chatting with Bagwan outside his shop. The accused, identified as Nikesh Patil (21), a resident of Khandobanagar, Lohgaon, attacked Adhav with a chopper. During the assault, the gang also broke the signboard of Adhav’s shop and that of a neighboring jeweler.

Bagwan, who attempted to intervene, was beaten with the handle of the chopper. His son Adiyan was reportedly injured after being hit with stones. In addition to the violent attack, the gang vandalized five two-wheelers parked in front of Adhav’s shop, a motorcycle, a rickshaw, and three more two-wheelers in the Dhanori Zakat Naka area.

The gang’s rampage extended to a nearby medical store and the S.B. Chinese Center in Kalwadvasti, where they caused significant damage to materials and property.

Upon receiving information, senior police officials rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.

Under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Ajay Sankeshwari, the police managed to apprehend the main accused, Nikesh Patil, who had fled the scene. A case has been registered against Patil’s accomplices, Akshay Sanjay Saregile (20), a resident of Santnagar, Lohgaon, and a minor.

Assistant Police Inspector Dhamane is conducting further investigations into the case.
