Traffic Restrictions in Central Pune for Shri Ganesh Jayanti Celebrations on Saturday
Pune, 31st January 2025: In light of the expected large gathering of devotees at the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple on the occasion of Shri Ganesh Jayanti, the Pune Traffic Police have announced temporary changes to the traffic flow in the central city area.
From 7 am on Saturday, February 1, Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Road will be closed to vehicular traffic. Additionally, if the crowd increases, traffic movement on Laxmi Road will be diverted to alternative routes to prevent congestion.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amol Zende has issued an advisory for commuters. PMPML buses and other vehicles traveling from Shivajinagar to Swargate should take the alternative route via S. G. Barve Chowk (Modern Cafe Chowk), Jhansi Rani Chowk, JM Road, Khandobijababa Chowk, and Tilak Chowk.
For those traveling from S. G. Barve Chowk to Mahapalika (PMC) Bhavan, the suggested route is via Jhansi Chi Rani Chowk. Meanwhile, traffic from Appa Balwant Chowk to Budhwar Chowk (Hutatma Chowk) will be restricted, and vehicles should take an alternative route via Appa Balwant Chowk.
If congestion increases, vehicles passing through Belbag Chowk on Laxmi Road will also be redirected to alternative routes.
The traffic police have urged citizens to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate with the changes to ensure smooth movement during the celebrations.
