Pune: Leopard Attack In Ambegaon Leaves Teen Injured; Siblings Escape Narrowly
Pune, 13th February 2025: A leopard attack on three motorcycles sent shockwaves through Khadakwadi in Ambegaon taluka on Wednesday night, leaving a 17-year-old girl injured. The incident occurred around 7.45 pm. when the leopard, accompanied by its two cubs, ambushed the riders near the Khadakwadi crematorium.
The first two motorcyclists, Sachin Mali and Dinesh Balasaheb Ranpise, managed to evade the attack. However, the leopard pounced on the third motorcycle, where siblings Omkar Machhindra Doke and Shreya Machhindra Doke were riding. Shreya, who was seated at the back, was bitten on her left leg before Omkar sped away, narrowly escaping further harm.
Shreya sustained two bite wounds and was initially taken to a hospital in Loni for first aid before being shifted to Manchar Subdistrict Hospital for further treatment.
Forest officials, including Forester Sonal Bhalerao and the Leopard Rapid Action Force, rushed to the scene following the attack. Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious as leopard activity has been increasing in the area.
