Pune: Maharashtra To Implement Statewide Online Admission Process For Class 11 From 2025-26

Pune, 1st March 2025: The Maharashtra government has announced a significant overhaul in the Class 11 admission process, extending the existing online system to the entire state from the academic year 2025-26. The decision aims to streamline the process, reduce time and effort for students and parents, and align with the Chief Minister’s ‘Ease of Living’ initiative under the seven-point action plan.

For the past few years, the online admission system has been operational in select urban centers, including Mumbai, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Amravati, Nagpur, and Nashik. Recognizing its effectiveness, the School Education Department has now decided to expand it to all regions, ensuring a uniform and efficient admission process. The entire system will be managed at the state level under the Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, with oversight from the Education Commissioner.

As part of the implementation, junior colleges and higher secondary schools across all divisions—including Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Amravati, Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Latur, and Kolhapur—must verify and submit crucial data regarding student intake capacity, available subjects, and institutional categories to the designated online service provider. The process will be facilitated through a structured tender system, and necessary guidelines will be issued to ensure smooth execution.

To familiarize students and parents with the new system, the government has directed the preparation of awareness programs, including audio-visual training materials. The admission process will follow a structured timeline, with four regular rounds of allotments before the commencement of the academic year. Once these rounds are completed, a merit-based open admission window will be available at the junior college level until all available seats are filled.
