Two Arrested in Pune’s Nana Peth for Possession of Mephedrone Worth Rs 11.40 Lakh
Nana Peth, 5th March 2025: The Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Squad has arrested two individuals in Nana Peth for allegedly preparing to sell mephedrone. The police seized 57 grams of the banned drug, valued at ₹11.40 lakh, from the accused.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Adeeb Bashir Sheikh (29), a resident near Pensionwala Mosque, Nana Peth, and Yasir Hashir Syed (30) from Mithanagar, Kondhwa.
According to Pune police, the Anti-Narcotics Squad was patrolling the Nana Peth area when policeman Azad Patil received a tip-off about the accused preparing to sell mephedrone. Acting swiftly, the police laid a trap and apprehended the duo. In addition to the 57 grams of mephedrone, authorities also seized other valuables, bringing the total value of confiscated items to ₹13.42 lakh.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shailesh Balkawade, DCP (Crime) Nikhil Pingale, and ACP Rajendra Mulik. The team included Police Inspector Sudarshan Gaikwad, Assistant Inspector Nitin Kumar Naik and police personnel Azad Patil, Mayur Suryavanshi, Sahil Sheikh, Sandeep Jadhav, Uday Rakshe, Yogesh Mandhare, Yuvraj Kamble, Imran Sheikh, and Kalyan Borate.
Further investigations are underway to determine the source of the drugs and whether the accused are linked to a larger network.
