Defence Civilian Employee Arrested for Running Fake Army Recruitment Racket in Pune

Pune, 5th March 2025: A defence civilian employee has been arrested for allegedly running a fake recruitment racket, deceiving candidates with false promises of jobs in the Indian Army. The accused, identified as Subhash Magan Pawar, was apprehended near the Central Ordnance Depot (COD) in Dehuroad on March 4.
According to sources, the Army’s Military Intelligence unit of the Southern Command had alerted Dehuroad police station, Pimpri Chinchead police, about Pawar’s activities. Following a joint operation by Army intelligence and Dehuroad police, he was arrested around 5 PM.
Pawar, who works at the Ordnance Depot (OD) in Talegaon, reportedly targeted aspirants from financially weak backgrounds across Maharashtra. He allegedly charged each candidate ₹4.3 lakh, amassing an estimated ₹45–60 lakh through fraudulent means. However, the ongoing investigation is currently based on a complaint from one victim, who claims to have paid ₹8 lakh.
The accused is now being jointly interrogated by police and military intelligence officers at Dehuroad police station. Further details are awaited as authorities continue their investigation into the extent of the scam.
