Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Officials Suspended for Celebrating Birthday on Street
Pimpri-Chinchwad, 7th March 2025: Several officials from the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) have faced disciplinary action after a street birthday celebration led to suspensions and a transfer. Among those penalized is a police inspector who has been reassigned.
The incident occurred outside Sangvi Police Station, where police constable Praveen Patil’s birthday was celebrated in a grand manner. The celebration, which took place a few days ago, was attended by fellow constables Vivek Gaikwad, Suhas Dongare, and Vijay More. A video of the event went viral, drawing attention to the gathering.
Maharashtra Police has a strict stance against street celebrations, often taking action against civilians who engage in public cake-cutting. This time, with police personnel themselves involved, Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey ordered immediate suspensions of all the constables present at the event.
Additionally, sources revealed that Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bansode has been transferred to the Control Room in connection with the incident. The strict action highlights Maharashtra Police’s firm position against such public celebrations, even when their own personnel are involved.
