MLA Hemant Rasane Urges CM to Revise Policy for Redevelopment of Old Wadas in Pune
Pune, 7th March 2025: Kasba Peth MLA Hemant Rasane has pressed for revisions in the Maharashtra’s policy to expedite the redevelopment of old wadas in Pune, particularly in the Central Peth areas. Rasane met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, advocating for a tailored policy for Pune, similar to those implemented in Mumbai and Thane.
This comes as many wadas in Pune remain in a dilapidated state, posing risks to residents due to technical hurdles in current regulations.
Rasane emphasized the need for a special committee to address these issues and streamline administrative processes to make the Kasba constituency slum-free. The Chief Minister’s office has directed the relevant departments to take necessary actions, indicating a positive response to Rasane’s demands.
Rasane stated that he is consistently working towards ensuring safe and better facilities for citizens and is optimistic about the Chief Minister’s commitment to resolving this long-standing issue. The redevelopment of these wadas has been stalled for years, with legal disputes and technical challenges hindering progress, Rasane said.
