MWC 2025: Top Innovations and Award Winners Announced

New Delhi, 7th March 2025:The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 showcased several next-generation innovations and futuristic concepts. MWC 2025 concluded on March 6, with the Global Mobile Awards (GLOMO) announcing its annual winners. A total of 33 awards were given in 7 categories, out of which four were in the device section.

Best Smartphone: Google Pixel 9 Pro

Breakthrough Device Innovation: Google Gemini

Best Connected Consumer Device: Tecno Mega Mini Gaming G1

Best in Show: Xiaomi 15 Ultra

The Pixel 9 Pro was recognized for its ‘great performance, innovation, and leadership’. It surpassed devices like iPhone 16 Pro, Galaxy S24 Ultra, Magic V3, and vivo X200 Pro in the smartphone category launched between January 2024 and December 2024.

Pixel Dominates MWC Awards Again, Challenging iPhone & Galaxy Series

Google has won its second consecutive award, putting the Pixel series into the same league as he iPhone and Samsung Galaxy, two devices that traditionally dominate the MWC awards. Looking at the previous winners-

Google had an ambitious vision when it launched the first Pixel in 2016, but its real breakthrough came in 2021 with the redesigned Pixel 6. While it didn’t win any Glomo awards, it became a popular device with its unique design language and shaped the path for Google to where it is today.

The Breakthrough Innovation Award focuses on the device’s core hardware and software. These categories include processors, cameras, screens, and other tech, and Google Gemini impressed the jury with its powerful generative AI capabilities designed for end consumers. Other nominees included:

Huawei Mate XT’s tri-fold hinge technology

The Best Connected Consumer Device category is the most diverse and includes mobile products, gadgets, services, solutions, and applications. The winner, Mega Mini Gaming G1, is the world’s smallest water-cooled gaming mini PC that comes with an Intel Core i9-13900H processor and a GeForce RTX 4060 GPU. It is priced at $1,699 and has been available for several months.

The Best in Show category recognizes the most exciting products and devices that were announced at the Mobile World Congress. This year, Barcelona’s Gran Via exhibition hall showcased a wide range of cutting-edge innovations, but Xiaomi 15 Ultra emerged as the most compelling consumer product at the event.
