44-Year-Old Man Arrested for Abducting and Murdering 7-Year-Old Girl in Pune
Pune, 11th March 2025: In a swift operation, the Pune Rural Police have arrested Baban Yadav, a 44-year-old man, for the abduction and murder of a seven-year-old girl named Gayatri Ranjit Ravidas in Koregaon Bhima. The crime was reported on 22nd February 2025, after Gayatri’s mother filed a complaint with the Shikrapur Police Station.
The police investigation revealed that Yadav had kidnapped Gayatri and two other children, later releasing the other two near Bahul village. He confessed to throwing Gayatri into a well along the Shikrapur-Chakan Road, resulting in her death.
Yadav was identified and tracked using CCTV footage, leading to his arrest. The case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC, including murder. The investigation was guided by senior police officials, including Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh and Additional Superintendent Ramesh Chopde. Sub-Inspector Sandip Salunkhe of the Shikrapur Police Station is overseeing the ongoing investigation.
