Five Arrested For Brutal Assault In Pune; Paraded By Police As Public Warning
Ambegaon, 15th March 2025: Pune’s Ambegaon police publicly paraded five accused who were arrested for attacking a man with a Koyta over a minor road rage incident. The accused, who arrived on motorcycles, assaulted the victim, leaving him seriously injured. A case was registered against them at Ambegaon Police Station.
The public parade was carried out in the same locality where the crime took place, as well as in surrounding areas, to send a strong message against criminal activities among youth.
The accused have been identified as Ganesh Jadhav, Vishal Bandu Raut, Sameer Dnyaneshwar Marne, and Rishikesh Loke. The case was registered based on a complaint filed by a 19-year-old victim.
According to police reports, the victim and his friend were walking near the Swaminarayan Temple around 9:45 pm after attending a birthday celebration. The accused, who were on a bike, stopped them and accused them of cutting off their vehicle. Enraged, they attacked the duo with a Koyta, wooden sticks along with punches and kicks leaving the complainant injured.
The accused were paraded across key locations, including Katraj, Santosh Nagar, Sachchai Mata Chowk, Bhagwa Chowk, Hanuman Nagar, Shani Nagar, Jambhulwadi Road, and Panyachi Tanki Chowk. The operation was led by Senior Inspector Sharad Zine of the Ambegaon Police Station.
Authorities have warned that such public parades will continue as a deterrent to rising crime.
