Pune, 25th March 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to auction 473 decommissioned vehicles that have been in service for over 15 years. The auction will take place online on Tuesday, March 25, through the Maharashtra government’s MSTC website, from 12 PM to 4 PM.

According to Additional Commissioner Prithviraj B.P., the PMC owns 1,163 vehicles across various departments, including administration, solid waste management, water supply, and the fire department. In accordance with the central government’s vehicle scrapping policy, which mandates the deregistration of vehicles older than 15 years, PMC has phased out 473 vehicles, some of which are between 15 to 24 years old.

These vehicles were previously stored at locations in Gultekdi, Kondhwa, and Hadapsar, but due to limited storage space, PMC has been planning their auction for the past two years.

Initially, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) was responsible for conducting the auction. However, due to certain challenges in managing the process, PMC has now taken over.

To oversee the auction, PMC has formed a committee comprising senior officials from the vehicle department, engineers, and representatives from PMPML and the RTO. This committee has finalized the base price for the vehicles to ensure a fair and transparent auction process.
