Pune, 31st March 2025: Maharashtra State Transport Corporation (ST) has added 40 new buses to its Pune division fleet, providing commuters with improved travel convenience, especially during the summer vacation rush. According to the ST administration, the newly acquired buses have been distributed equally among four depots: Swargate, Shivajinagar, Indapur, and Baramati, with each receiving 10 buses.

The Pune division has been facing a significant shortage of buses due to the increasing number of travelers. This scarcity, combined with frequent breakdowns of old buses, has caused inconvenience to passengers. The addition of these new buses is expected to ease the travel woes by reducing vehicle failures and enhancing overall service reliability.

With the summer holiday season resulting in higher passenger traffic, the new buses will help in managing the growing crowd more efficiently. The improved bus frequency is likely to offer much-needed relief to daily commuters and travelers heading to nearby districts and towns.

Sachin Shinde, the Divisional Traffic Officer, MSRTC Pune, stated that the inclusion of these 40 buses will strengthen the transport network and benefit passengers. He added that the previous shortage of buses often made it challenging to plan and manage operations effectively. The new fleet will help address these issues and reduce instances of breakdowns caused by aging vehicles.
