Pune Witnesses Record Vehicle Sales On Gudi Padwa With Over 10,000 Registrations
Pune, 31st March 2025: On the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa, one of the three-and-a-half most significant muhurats for purchases, Pune city recorded the sale of 10,170 vehicles. This marks a 28% increase compared to last year, with 2,834 more vehicles registered. The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) confirmed the figures, highlighting a surge in vehicle purchases this year.
Of the total registrations, 6,510 were two-wheelers, making them the most preferred choice among buyers, while 2,424 were four-wheelers. Additionally, the sale of commercial vehicles, including buses, auto-rickshaws, and trucks, also saw a notable rise.
In 2024, 7,336 vehicles were registered on Gudi Padwa, whereas the figure was 7,706 in 2023. The substantial increase this year reflects a growing trend of citizens opting for vehicle purchases during festive occasions.
The RTO reported that two-wheeler sales saw the biggest jump, with 2,229 more bikes sold compared to the previous year. In 2024, 4,221 two-wheelers were purchased, whereas this year, the figure rose to 6,510. Four-wheeler sales also increased, with 2,424 cars sold, 98 more than last year.
Commercial vehicle sales witnessed significant growth, with 517 transport vehicles sold, more than doubling last year’s 245. Additionally, 68 buses were registered, compared to 45 in 2024. Auto-rickshaw sales also saw a slight rise, with 283 registrations this year, up from 257 last year.
Gudi Padwa, along with Akshaya Tritiya, Dussehra, and Diwali Padwa, is considered an auspicious time for purchases, including vehicles, homes, and gold. Anticipating the festive rush, many buyers reserved their vehicles weeks in advance. This led to a streamlined registration process, with the RTO processing over 10,170 vehicle documents on the day.
