Woman Arrested for Placing Superstitious Items Outside Former Pune Mayor’s Residence
Dhankawadi, 31st March 2025: A woman has been taken into police custody for allegedly placing objects associated with superstitious practices, such as coconuts, lemons, and black items, outside the residence of former Pune mayor Dattatraya Dhankawade, a close aide of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
The incident occurred in the Dhankawadi area of Pune, prompting the registration of a case under the Maharashtra Anti-Superstition and Black Magic Act, 2013. The complaint was filed by Vivek Namdev Patil.
According to police, for the past four months, the woman had been seen leaving items like coconuts, milk-rice, boiled eggs, lemons, and black objects outside various houses in Dhankawadi, specifically on new moon nights. On March 29, similar items were found outside Dhankawade’s residence, raising concerns among residents.
Following complaints from locals, the police launched an investigation, leading to the woman’s arrest. The Sahakarnagar police have registered a case under the Maharashtra Anti-Superstition and Black Magic Act, and further inquiries are ongoing.
