Pimpri Chinchwad, 3rd April 2025: In a swift and coordinated operation, Pimpri Chinchwad Police successfully rescued an 8-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped from Chinchwad on 31st March around 5 PM. The boy was found unharmed, and the suspected kidnapper has been taken into custody.

The incident came to light when the boy’s mother lodged a complaint at Chinchwad Police Station on 1st April. Acting promptly, the police registered a case and began their investigation. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode directed the Anti-Extortion Cell to conduct a parallel inquiry into the matter.

Senior Police Inspector Devendra Chavan of the Anti-Extortion Cell quickly gathered CCTV footage, a photo of the suspect, and the suspect’s mobile number. Technical analysis of the suspect’s mobile number revealed that he was traveling with the kidnapped child by train. Based on this information, Senior Police Inspector Chavan coordinated with Bhusawal Police Station, Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and Muktaingar, Jalgaon and Chalisgaon Police Stations. CCTV footage and photos of both the suspect and the child were shared with these agencies to assist in tracking their movements.

The RPF identified the suspect and the child through CCTV footage at a railway station and confirmed that they had boarded the Kashi Express. Acting swiftly, RPF officials detained the suspect at Bhusawal Railway Station and safely rescued the child.

Simultaneously, as per senior officers’ orders, a team from the Anti-Extortion Cell, comprising Sub-Inspector Sunil Bhadane and Police Constables Pradip Pote and Dnyaneshwar Kurhade, was dispatched to Chalisgaon Railway Police Station. The team took custody of both the suspect—identified as Gajanan Panpatil (25), a resident of Buldhana District—and the rescued child. They were handed over to the Chinchwad Police for further investigation.
