Massive Power Cut in Pune: Vadgaon, Dhayari, Sinhgad Road Among Affected Areas
Sinhgad Road, 4th April 2025: A breakdown in MahaTransco’s 220 kV Fursungi-Parvati high-voltage power line on Friday evening led to a widespread power outage affecting nearly 2.52 lakh consumers in several parts of Pune, including Sinhgad Road, Vadgaon, Dhayari, Kirkatwadi, and Nanded City.
According to officials, the failure occurred around 5:45 PM, disrupting power supply to 66 power lines and 13 substations under MSEDCL. As a result, electricity was cut off in several key areas for nearly an hour, with supply restored by 6:50 PM.
In addition, around 14,000 consumers in Navi Peth and Juni Parvati faced outages for about half an hour, with power returning by 6:18 PM.
To mitigate the impact, MahaTransco diverted power through alternative high-voltage substations, ensuring a gradual restoration of supply to affected areas.
Authorities have assured that efforts are underway to identify the cause of the breakdown and prevent similar incidents in the future.
