Pune: FIR Against BJP Women Workers After Attack on Doctor’s Clinic Amid Tanisha Bhise Death Row
Erandwane, 5th April 2025: Tensions escalated in Pune following the death of Tanisha Bhise, a pregnant woman who was allegedly denied treatment at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital over non-payment of advance fees. A protest by BJP women workers turned violent on Friday, leading to the vandalism of a private clinic owned by a relative of a hospital doctor. Police have now registered a case of rioting and damage to medical property against the BJP protesters.
Tanisha (Ishwari) Bhise, wife of Sushant Bhise, the personal assistant of BJP MLC Amit Gorkhe, was brought to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital on March 28 for delivery. Her family has alleged that the hospital demanded ₹20 lakh initially and later ₹10 lakh in advance, and refused to admit her without payment. Due to the delay, she was shifted to another hospital and later died during treatment.
After the incident gained public attention, workers from various political parties held demonstrations outside Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital. The BJP women’s wing also joined the protest, alleging misconduct by hospital staff, specifically Dr. Sushrut Ghaisas, whom the family accuses of demanding money for treatment.
The situation intensified when BJP women protesters vandalized Ashwini Nursing Home, a private hospital owned by Dr. Chinmay Ghaisas, brother of Dr. Sushrut Ghaisas. The incident occurred in Navasahyadri Society, leading to legal consequences for those involved.
The Alankar Police Station has registered a case under Sections 3 and 4 of the Maharashtra Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Act, 2010, along with rioting charges, against the BJP women workers who participated in the vandalism.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar stated, “The government has taken serious cognizance of this incident. I have instructed the District Magistrate to conduct a thorough, impartial, and prompt investigation.”
Health Minister Prakash Abitkar confirmed that a committee has been formed to investigate the matter. “The perspectives of both the hospital administration and the Bhise family will be heard. Legal action will follow based on the findings,” he said.
Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule emphasized accountability in the healthcare system, saying, “It is unacceptable if doctors have erred. The death of a pregnant woman must be investigated thoroughly.”

Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) MP Supriya Sule also reacted strongly, stating, “If a patient is denied treatment in a modern hospital due to financial reasons, it’s a grave concern. No mother should lose her life during childbirth. The government must conduct a comprehensive inquiry.”
