Jambhulwadi: Two Dead, 12 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Pune-Bengaluru Highway

Katraj, 13th September 2026: Two persons died and 12 others were injured, including three who are in critical condition, in a multi-vehicle accident on the Pune-Bengaluru Highway near Jambhulwadi in Pune in the early hours of Sunday.
According to the Ambegaon Police, the accident occurred around 12:10 am near Laxmi Lodge, close to Dari Bridge at Jambhulwadi. An Ashok Leyland truck travelling from Satara towards Pune allegedly rammed into the rear of an Eicher tempo truck travelling ahead.
The impact caused both vehicles to veer out of their lane and enter the lane carrying traffic from Mumbai towards Satara. The vehicles then collided with a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and a Tata Altroz.
The Eicher truck, Ertiga and Altroz were severely damaged in the crash. Several occupants and drivers sustained serious injuries.
Police said Hridaynath Mohan Gaikwad (47), a resident of Jogeshwari East, Mumbai, and Anandibai Ramchandra Wadkar (50), a resident of Nerul, Navi Mumbai, died while undergoing treatment.
A total of 12 people were injured in the accident, of whom three are reported to be in critical condition. The injured are being treated at Bharati Hospital, Morya Hospital, Silver Birch Hospital and Shreyas Hospital.
Police and other authorities cleared the accident site and restored traffic movement on the highway.
The Ambegaon Police have registered a case under Crime No. 392/2026 under Sections 105 and 125(a)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, including Sections 184, 177/119 and 134(a)(b).
Police have identified the Ashok Leyland truck driver as Pramod Vitthal Wagh (40), a resident of Khatav taluka in Satara district. The truck owner has been identified as Sandeep Gorakh Suryawanshi (45), also a resident of Khatav taluka.
Police said the truck driver and owner have been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.
