Pune: Wagholi Residents File Police Complaint Over Illegal Racing, Threats Inside Nyati Elan Society
Wagholi, 9th April 2025: Residents of Nyati Elan Central South Society in Wagholi have submitted a written complaint to the local police, alleging illegal car racing and criminal intimidation by two individuals on the internal road of their gated community. The incident reportedly occurred today around 2 PM.
According to the complaint addressed to the Police Inspector of Wagholi Police Station, two vehicles — a Thar (MH12VQ8218) and a Scorpio (MH12XX4951) — were seen racing multiple times inside the society premises, putting residents, especially children, at serious risk.
“This wasn’t just rash driving — it was deliberate racing inside a residential area where kids play and people walk around,” said one of the residents, who witnessed the incident. “It was terrifying. When we confronted them, they turned violent and aggressive.”
Residents allege that upon being confronted, the individuals used abusive language and issued death threats.
“If you complain to the police, I will kill you,”
“I am a local here, no one can do anything wrong,”
“The police cannot do anything to us,”
— these were some of the statements allegedly made by the accused, as quoted in the complaint.
A video clip of the incident has also been submitted to the police as evidence, residents confirmed.
“This kind of behaviour threatens the safety and peace of our community. We urge the authorities to take immediate and strict action under relevant laws,” the letter stated.
A resident, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, “We’re increasingly feeling unsafe in our own society. Such lawlessness cannot be ignored. If they can say things like ‘Police can’t touch us,’ it’s deeply worrying.”
The residents have demanded that both vehicles and their drivers be identified, and appropriate legal action be initiated.
Further details are awaited.
