Pune, 9th April 2025: The second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Pune has seen a strong response, with over 6,000 citizens applying for affordable homes under the scheme. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has received 6,394 applications so far and plans to construct 4,176 housing units in areas such as Dhanori, Baner, Kondhwa, Hadapsar, Balewadi, and Vadgaon Khurd.

Launched by the central government, PMAY aims to provide affordable housing to urban citizens, particularly those from economically weaker sections. In the first phase, PMC constructed and allotted 2,918 homes. The second phase focuses on offering 300 sq. ft. units at subsidized rates, targeting those in need of low-cost housing.

Although Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the second phase in September 2024, implementation was delayed due to the enforcement of the state assembly election code of conduct. With online registration now open, the scheme is picking up pace.

The total project cost is estimated at around ₹300 crore. PMC is encouraging more eligible citizens to take advantage of the scheme and realize their dream of home ownership.
