Minor Bangladeshi Girl Sold Into Prostitution In Pune After Illegally Crossing Border; Investigation Underway
Budhwar Peth, 12th April 2025: A minor girl who had illegally crossed the border of Bangladesh with her friend was subjected to prostitution in Pune. The girl was sold by her friend to a brothel owner in Budhwar Peth for ₹3 lakh. The victim was tortured for five months before she managed to free herself and reached the police station. Based on her complaint, cases have been registered against five women and one woman has been arrested by the Faraskhana police station.
According to the information given by the police, the victim girl is 16 years and two months old. She was brought to Pune by her friend from Bangladesh on the pretext of a job. For this, she illegally crossed the border of India through the river from Bangladesh. After reaching Pune, she stayed in Bhosari area for seven to eight days. After this, her friend brought her to Budhwar Peth. There, she was sold to a woman for ₹3 lakh.
After this, the victim was kept in Tulshibaug area and Budhwar Peth. She was forced into a prostitution business by threatening to report her to the police. The victim could not bear the torture and after enduring the torture for five months, she tried to escape once, but failed. However, she managed to leave the room on 7th April.
The victim then reached Hadapsar police station and filed a complaint. Hadapsar police registered a case and transferred it to Faraskhana police station. In this regard, Faraskhana police have registered a case against five women and arrested one woman.
Senior Police Inspector Prashant Bhasme is conducting further investigation into the case.
